Cycle to RSH day

Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Mytton Oak Road

16th March, 2010 - 06:00 to 18:00

Cycle Shrewsbury and the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals Trust are working together to improve cycle facilities at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

There are now over 100 cycle parking spaces in convenient locations all round the hospital site, and the parking will be officially opened at 1.00pm in front of the ward block. Staff and visitors are encouraged to cycle to the hospital on that day, and anyone is welcome to attend the opening ceremony.

Cyclists can have their bikes checked for free by Dr Bike between 12-4pm, and security marked by the local police.

Other new cycling initiatives at the hospital include:

  • better information for cyclists on the hospital's website
  • signs directing people to the new cycle parking, and along quieter streets near the hospital
  • a staff BUG (Bicycle User Group) to support new cyclists and help decide on future improvements
  • cycle refresher courses for staff who want to get back to cycling
  • information for new staff on cycle facilities and routes

This event is free to attend
