Shrewsbury is a great town to cycle around; it's mostly flat, it's relatively small and there are lots of off-road cycle routes and quick short cuts that often help you reach your destination faster than by car or bus.
It's a good idea to plan your route before you go out on your bike. All the cycle routes in Shrewsbury can be viewed on our interactive map or you can download or order a copy of the Shrewsbury walking and cycling map from our cycle leaflets page.
Trying to work out the best way to get from A to Z by bicycle? The Transport Direct journey planner lets you search for quickest, quietest or more recreational route and provides directions and a map of the route.
This tool was launched in February 2010 and is still being improved; if you notice any problems with it please leave feedback on the Transport Direct website by foillowing the 'contact us' link at the bottom of the page.
You can watch videos demonstrating the different types of routes which the journey planner provides here.
If you'e planning a day out on your bike, details of family-friendly and longer leisure rides are available on our cycling for fun pages.
We want your feedback on cycle routes and facilities in Shrewsbury.
