Greenfields greenways

A number of improvements to cycle and walking routes between Shrewsbury town centre and the north west of Shrewsbury are proposed as part of Shrewsbury's Connect2 scheme.

Pupils from Greenfields Primary School use the new pathConstruction on the first of the Connect2 improvements began in March 2009 in the Greenfields area. A series of surfaced traffic-free paths or ‘greenways’ have been provided on Greenfields recreation ground.

The improvements have resulted in better surfaces and drainage on the existing paths between Falstaff Street and the Flaxmill. A new path from Greenfields recreation ground towards the primary school was also completed, providing a direct route to school that can be used throughout the year. There is also a new path to Hubert Way.
